Yamaha has developed a 125 cc engine that gets a nice starter and a quiet start. The company has dispensed with the use of an electric starter and introduced a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) to let the scooter out of a noisy start when it is started. While the base engine remains the same, Yamaha has used the SMG to provide a quiet startup system that provides additional functionality for mild hybrid assistants.
The Fascinos engine has a stop-start function, which helps save a bit more fuel, but the system responds slowly and the engine takes a small second to turn on when you press the accelerator. The braking performance that Yamaha offers on the fascinating front brake discs is neat, even if the optional front discs lack bite. With a price of Rs 71,230 (ex showroom Delhi) for the disc brake variant, the Fascino is on par with its competitors Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125, NTORQ 125 Hero and Maestro Edge 125 in terms of price.
The new F-125 costs Rs 70,000 for the drum version and Rs 75,000 for the disc version (ex-showroom, Delhi). The revised Fascino is available in up to nine colour variants, including three new ones: Vivid Red Special, Matt Black Special and Cool Blue Metallic for the disc brake version. At the end of 2019 the price of the Yamaha Fascino 125 will be 66,430 Rs for standard drum brake variant, 67,430 (DLX) for drum brake variants, Rs 69,930 (standard drum brake) and Rs 69,830 (DLx) for disc brake variants.
